The International Society for Autism (ISA) was founded in 2010 by Dr. Andrew S. Rubin, Ph.D. along with many parents of children with autism. ISA sponsors and conducts research on empirically based treatment programs for individuals with autism.

Currently, ISA, along with Robert Schleser, Ph.D. and clinical psychology graduate students from the Illinois Institute of Technology have partnered in a research initiative to evaluate evidence based components of Direction Therapy (DT), a Coordinated Multidisciplinary Treatment (CMT) model designed for young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
