QuarterCompany welcomed a new member to our growing team of professionals: South Florida Managing Director, Sámine Jernigan.

Sámine has had an impressive career in which she has been an IBMer, a school teacher, and an entrepreneur. We know our clients will appreciate her expertise and benefit from her diverse knowledge base.

During the last several weeks, Sámine has been getting to know our many clients. Now it is your turn to get to know a bit more about her.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with small business owners and non-profit leaders?

A: The opportunity to engage with dedicated and committed individuals (while simultaneously making a difference) is greatest at this level.

Q: What attracted you to QuarterCompany?

A: QuarterCompany is a unique organization that encourages its team members to “think out the box” and promotes community.

Q: What excites you most about your role as South Florida Managing Director?

A: South Florida became my home in 2006. As Managing Director, I’ll have the advantage of getting to know the many operations that make up the small businesses and non-profit world on a more intimate level.

Q: You volunteer with several organizations. Why is it important for you to be involved in your community?

A: I’m not sure if the importance was ingrained via the reciting of the Girl Scout mantra “be a friend, be of service” when I was a young scout–or if it was from the lessons instilled in me by my maternal grandfather (who always cared for and looked out for others even when he had very little). Needless to say, the lessons I learned as a youth merely stuck with me: being of service and serving the community is simply a responsibility

Q: What else would you like the QuarterCompany community to know about you?

A: It may help if our Qco community knew how to pronounce my name! So here goes: it’s pronounced “Suh-meen,” like glucosamine!
